Mongolian BBQ Sauce Ginger Garlic

Spicy Mongolian BBQ sauce with fresh ginger, garlic and brown sugar for an intense sweet-salty flavor.

Sauté Aromatics
4 MinutenHeat oil in a saucepan over medium heat, sauté garlic and ginger for 2-3 minutes stirring constantly until golden, without burning.
Build Sauce
5 MinutenAdd soy sauce, brown sugar, chili flakes and 80 ml water, stir everything together and bring to a boil over medium heat.
Simmer
10 MinutenReduce heat to low and simmer the sauce for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to fully develop.
Thicken
3 MinutenMix cornstarch with the remaining water (20 ml) until smooth, stir into the simmering sauce and cook for 2 minutes stirring until the desired consistency is reached.
Bottle
3 MinutenRemove sauce from heat, let cool briefly and pour into sterilized jars or bottles.
Pro Tip
For a more authentic depth, enhance the sauce with a splash of Chinese Shaoxing rice wine.
