Classic American mac and cheese in a smoky version with smoked gouda and cheddar.

Macaroni400 g
Smoked Gouda200 g
Smoked Cheddar150 g
Whole Milk400 ml
Butter40 g
Smoked Paprika5 g

Instructions

Cook Pasta

Cook macaroni in plenty of salted water al dente according to package instructions, drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Base

8 Min.

Melt butter in a large pot, stir in flour and sauté briefly. Pour in milk gradually.

Melt Cheese

10 Min.

Set heat to low and melt grated gouda and cheddar in portions while stirring constantly.

Season and Combine

Stir in smoked paprika, season to taste and add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce.

Gratinate

12 Min.

Optional: Transfer mac and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle with grated cheese and bake at 200°C for 10 minutes.

Pro Tip

For extra smoky flavor add a little smoked paprika powder to the cheese sauce.
