Fiery tofu with a paprika chili rub hot smoked over oakwood for a spicy and smoky taste experience.

Firm Tofu400 g
Smoked Paprika Powder15 g
Chili Powder8 g
Garlic Powder5 g
Olive Oil30 ml
Sea Salt5 g

Instructions

Preparation

15 Min.

Press tofu firmly and cut into 2 cm thick slices. Mix paprika powder, chili powder, garlic powder and sea salt, then stir in olive oil to form a paste.

Rubbing

4 Std.

Rub tofu slices evenly with the spice paste on all sides, cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

Drying

20 Min.

Remove tofu from the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for 20 minutes until the surface is slightly dried.

Smoking

2 Std.

Preheat smoker with oak and hickory chips to 115-125°C. Place tofu on the grate and smoke for 2 hours, turning once halfway through.

Finishing

10 Min.

Remove tofu from smoker, let rest for 10 minutes and serve with fresh chili slices and lime juice.

Pro Tip

Use smoked paprika powder in addition to fresh chili for a double layer of smokiness in the finished tofu.
