Smoked Pecan Nuts with Maple Syrup

Crunchy pecan nuts are glazed with maple syrup and hot-smoked until they develop a golden-brown, lightly caramelized crust. The hickory smoke flavor harmonizes perfectly with the sweet glaze and the buttery taste of the pecans. An irresistible snack or topping for salads and desserts.
Ingredients(for 1 kg)
Instructions
Marinade
30 minutesIn a large bowl, thoroughly mix pecan nuts with maple syrup, melted butter, salt, cayenne pepper, and cinnamon. Coat evenly and let rest for 30 minutes.
Smoking
1-1.5 hoursPreheat smoker to 120-135 °C. Spread nuts in a single layer on parchment paper or a grill mat. Add hickory and apple wood and smoke nuts for 1 to 1.5 hours. Turn every 20 minutes.
Cooling
20 minutesRemove nuts from smoker and let them cool completely on a fresh piece of parchment paper. The glaze will become crispy and firm as it cools. Then store in an airtight container.
