Ketchup200 ml
Espresso (strongly brewed)100 ml
Brown Sugar60 g
Apple Cider Vinegar60 ml
Chipotle Chilies in Adobo Sauce40 g
Worcestershire Sauce30 ml
Garlic Powder6 g

Instructions

Prepare Chipotle

Remove the chipotle chilies from the adobo sauce, remove seeds and finely chop. Reserve the adobo sauce and use it as well.

Combine Base

Stir together ketchup, espresso, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder in a saucepan over medium heat.

Add Chipotle

3 Minuten

Add the chopped chipotle chilies and adobo sauce, stirring everything well. Reduce heat to low.

Simmer

15 Minuten

Simmer the sauce on low heat for 15 minutes, stirring regularly, until it reaches the desired consistency.

Blend and Bottle

Blend the sauce smooth with an immersion blender, adjust seasoning, and pour into sterilized jars or bottles.

Pro Tip

Use freshly brewed strong espresso – instant coffee can give a metallic aftertaste. Adjust the amount of chipotle to your personal heat preference.
