Bourbon BBQ Sauce with Whiskey and Maple Syrup

A deep, smoky-sweet BBQ sauce featuring the distinctive aroma of bourbon and the warm caramel flavor of real maple syrup.

Preparation
5 MinutenMeasure and prepare all ingredients except the bourbon. Preheat a small saucepan over medium heat.
Cook the Base
5 MinutenAdd ketchup, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, and black pepper to the pot and stir well.
Simmer
15 MinutenSimmer the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Add Bourbon
5 MinutenStir in the bourbon and simmer for another 5 minutes to allow the alcohol to evaporate and the flavor to fully develop.
Season and Bottle
5 MinutenRemove sauce from heat, taste and adjust with salt or maple syrup if needed. Pour into sterilized jars or bottles.
Pro Tip
Add the bourbon towards the end of cooking so the alcohol evaporates but the flavor remains. For more depth, replace some of the maple syrup with molasses.
