Apple Cider BBQ Sauce

A fruity-sweet BBQ sauce based on naturally cloudy apple cider with a pleasant acidity and autumnal aromas.

Preparation
5 MinutenMeasure all ingredients. Bring the apple cider to a simmer in a saucepan over medium heat.
Reducing the Cider
5 MinutenSimmer the apple cider for about 5 minutes until slightly reduced and the flavors are concentrated.
Mixing Ingredients
3 MinutenStir in ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, onion powder and cinnamon, mixing everything into a smooth mixture.
Cooking Down
18 MinutenCook the sauce down over low heat for 15–18 minutes until it reaches a saucy, slightly syrupy consistency.
Finishing
5 MinutenRemove the sauce from heat, taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Pour into jars and store in the refrigerator.
Pro Tip
For a more intense apple flavor, reduce part of the cider separately by half before adding it to the sauce.
